JP Pomnichowski seeks re-election

News >>

BOZEMAN - Jennifer Pomnichowski of Bozeman today announced her bid for re-election to the Montana Legislature for House District 63 on the Democratic ticket. Her declaration was filed with the Montana Secretary of State's office this morning.

"I am proud to be a state representative. There were key needs for Bozeman last session, and I was proud to vote for $28 million to renovate Gaines Hall at Montana State University," said Pomnichowski, a 1991 MSU graduate in television production.
"I also worked hard to get $1.68 million from the state fund to clean up asbestos and other contaminants from the site of the new Bozeman Public Library, now an architectural showpiece for our city."

Pomnichowski co-sponsored a new water law to protect water quality and water quantity, and also supported the $40 million wildland firefighting fund to protect state residents. She voted for the $400 property tax refund of 2007, and for the $130 property tax credit coming to state taxpayers this year. She carried in the House a bill reconfirming unhindered sportsman access to rivers and streams at public bridge crossings. "I also voted to repeal the $20 adjudication fee on each water right application filed by Montanans," Pomnichowski said.

"I supported lowering business, income, and property taxes during the last session of the legislature and voters can expect more of the same if they re-elect me," Pomnichowski said. "They also can expect me to keep supporting adequate funding for public schools. I was among those who voted to freeze college tuition for the first time in 20 years.

"I will continue working to keep Montana a great place to live and work," said the candidate, who last session served on the important Taxation and Natural Resources committees. "Our clean air and water, vibrant cities, and western lifestyle must continue on."

Pomnichowski, 40, is a Montana native who has lived in Bozeman the past 23 years. She is a longtime member of the Bozeman Planning Board and Zoning Commission, past president of the Southeast Neighborhood Association and a former firefighter/EMT on the Bridger Canyon Volunteer Fire Department.
JP is a self-employed computer programmer and award-winning technical writer. A committed Bobcat sports fan, she has been a member of the football and basketball pressbox gameday statistics crew for more than 18 years.
Pomnichowski and her husband make their home in District 63 in southwest Bozeman.
